Inland reservoirs and beaches

Ullíbarri-Gamboa Reservoir

The reservoir of Ullíbarri-Gamboa is only 15 kilometers from Vitoria-Gasteiz. Access to the Park is through the A-3012 road, which links both the A-1 Vitoria-Gasteiz – Pamplona highway (exit Ozaeta), and the N-104 with the town of Ozaeta. Shortly before reaching the town of Maturana a detour indicates the entrance to Garaio Park

The Ullibarri-Gamboa reservoir has 3 indoor beaches where visitors can sunbathe, take a bath or simply enjoy the silence and beauty of a sunset. These beaches, whose quality is recognized by blue flag, are located in the Provincial Parks of Garaio and Landa, and have different services.

Garaio Beach

The park has an internal network of roads and parking that guarantees comfortable and pleasant access, and also has a wide and well-maintained public use equipment (information office, signposted paths, viewpoints, fountains, toilets, beach areas, showers, ..) that facilitates the realization of recreational activities.

Landa beach

From Vitoria-Gasteiz you can arrive by bicycle following the green route of Vasco Navarro from Vitoria-Gasteiz to the Port of Arlaban connects with Landa following the layout of the old Navarro Basque Railway.

Taking the exit in Gamarra, it is a route of 13.4 kilometers with a comfortable layout and with little unevenness. And the green itinerary of the Ullíbarri reservoir also passes through Landa, an enclave well communicated and accessible by bicycle through routes of use exclusively pedestrian and cyclist.

The Ullibarri-Gamboa reservoir has become a reference of first order in leisure activities and sports (fishing, canoeing, windsurfing, walks, etc.). On the banks of the reservoir is the Vitoria-Gasteiz Yacht Club. Also, in Landa, there is a recreational area with a conditioned area for bathing. The reservoir is surrounded by an artificial road of 45 kilometers where you can walk, ride a bicycle, etc.

Albina Reservoir

Albina is the smallest of the reservoirs of the Zadorra system. It is located about 9 kilometers from Vitoria-Gasteiz, on the Albina river, next to the road that goes to the idyllic Aramaio valley and surrounded by forests in an environment that deserves a visit by itself.

To get to the reservoir, take the road that goes from Legutiano on the A-623 and A-2620 towards Arrasate-Mondragón.
We will find the entrance on the km. 19, after a curve to the right.

Urrunaga Reservoir

The Urrunaga reservoir, also known as Villarreal, Legutio or Santa Engracia, is the reference point of many Basque fishermen.

It is located in a high region that makes the border between Álava and Bizkaia, near the foothills of the Gorbea, and is used to supply drinking water to both provinces.

Maroño Reservoir

The Maroño reservoir, located in the town of the same name, belonging to the municipality of Ayala, is protected by the Sierra Salvada, a mountain range of steep slopes and vertical rock formations that rises above this valley in the north of Álava.

From the Maroño Reservoir, built at the beginning of the nineties, nearby peaks can be seen, such as Tologorri, Ungino and Eskutxi, which, with its 1,180 meters high, is the roof of the Sierra Salvada. It is also worth admiring its splendid wooded environment, composed of pine forests, oaks and shrubs.
